Yrrah san, Konnichiwa. Thank you for helping JimMedlen san.
JimMedlen Konnichiwa. Yes, they look similar. The way to distinguish katakana ‘ta’ from kanji ‘yuu’ is the context. And also Katanaka ‘ta’ should not be followed by okurigana ‘be.’

It is more of a problem if two kanji are very similar. I made many mistakes with memorizing them. A specific katakana can be similar to a specific kanji but problems can indeed be ruled out by context.
