Great video of a real, casual Japanese discussion between two girls.
Listen close and see how much you can pick out. Afterwards a condensed translation is given. See how well you're progressing with your Japanese!

Oh really?
Have you ever been to the Shizuoka art & music street festival? They did an episode about that and you get to hear some really cool music.

As for the conversation I understood maybe 3 words. Haha. I have a long way to go.

So is anyone else able to understand this converstation?
I'd like to know how much people here already know.

It seems like everyone here is far ahead of me in the process of learning Japanese.

I didn't watch all of it, but what I did I followed a good bit, though not everything. I guess I should download it an try watching again later.

I don't get much, but i'm still able to pick up many words. I think they start with something like this: Are you fine? Nopes. I WAS fine. Why? Because. And then it goes blablabla to my ears, i'm only able to understand something about a christmas party, what to do tomorrow, hanging out, the party, and that's about the sense i can make out of this after listening through it once. This sort of conversation probably isn't the easiest to get for us who have never been to Japan, much less to a japanese highschool.

I look forward to the day when I understand it.

Me too, hopefully i'll be able to understand it in about 2 or 3 years. I only got 'genki desu ka' and the rest I just didnt understand at all but I havent learnt about any of the stuff that was in the conversation so I don't feel too bad about it.

Ha, yeah. I got Genki and I also heard Chaz's name once. That's about all.

Well, knowing the words is one thing, recognizing them is another. Probably, this isn't overly advanced, it's just the way it's spoken. If the same conversation was read by audio course-like voices i'm sure it would have been very different. Not to mention all the slang-ish expressions..
