Some Reference to Japanese Comprehension Level

Postby bigun » August 26th, 2011 9:00 pm

First off, just purchased the basic account and first post, so hello! はじめまして

I'm a very goal oriented person, and I feel like I am accomplishing nothing if I don't graduate "trial by fire" so to speak. Is there some way to gauge where I am in the learning process (Level 1,2,3, et. al.)?

Try signing up for JCAT. It's a free test that you can take once every six months, and is probably a lot more accurate than the JLPT. It picks the questions based on how you answer the previous ones, so they'll roughly suit your level. At the end it gives you a score for the four skills and tells you where it fits into the JLPT scale. Be warned that it's quite long and difficult. Do it at a time when you're fully awake and not under any time pressure.
