Passed the N4!

Postby Andygakusei » February 19th, 2011 4:24 am

Arigatou gozaimashita Jpod101 staff and fellow listeners for your support! I got 108/120 on the Vocabulary/Grammar/Reading and 57/60 on the Listening section for a total of 165/180. How would you all recommend that I begin to study for the N3 for this December(besides the wonderful JLPT N3 series which I will definitely be going through).

Congratulations. How were you informed of your result- email or snail mail? My result should be coming through any day now.
I think I got most if not all of the listening questions right but struggled a bit on the vocabulary section at the start of the test. I see the sectional pass mark required is a combination of the vocabulary/grammar and reading section scores so maybe I'll be OK!

jlpt results

Andygakusei,
What an impressive listening score! I passed N4 also, but with 45/60 on listening, I don't feel too confident about my listening skills. The set phrases part of listening seemed very easy to me, but the dialogue part is where I struggled. Why do you think your listening score was so high? What is your method for working on listening comprehension?
Did you see on the JLPT official website that only 46% of overseas N4 scores passed? This makes me feel a little better about my performance. Best wishes as you prepare for N3.
Kristin

Oh dear - I didn't pass. It seems I hadn't actually followed all those twists and turns in the listening section dialogues. I only got 33/60 on that section and ended up 4 points short of a pass on the overall score.
I see London will hold the July test this year according to the JLPT web site so I'll set my goal to make a big improvement by then.

Hi there,

I'm thinking about preparing for the N4 exam.. I might be short of time for the December session, so maybe I'd better try the summer session...
but I'd like to know about the N4 level compared to the Japanase101 podcast lessons...
What J101Podcast level fits better with the N4 test ? Are Lower Intermediate Lessons ok ? or is there another level more suitable for the N4 ?

Thanks !

Hi, I'm a Japanesepod101.com learner from Malaysia!

I passed JLPT N4 for July test as well, so here's my score for each section:

Vocabulary/Grammar/Reading - 71/120 points.
Listening - 30/60 points.

101/180 points in total.

I would like to say thanks to JPod101.com for improving my listening, although my listening score wasn't that great, so anyway, thanks again! I couldn't pass the test without all of you!
