一之って What does this mean?

Postby Frankencow » October 24th, 2010 9:43 pm

According to Google's translator this phrase "Ichi Kore tte" means "I kazayuiki" which doesn't seem to make any sense. I am guessing that it perhaps is a fancy way of saying "I" or "me" like saying, "This one" meaning yourself. I'm not 100% certain about this though. I can't find a proper translation listed anywhere online! (I'm going to submit it to AuthLab after I get an answer)

Frankencow,
Do you have more context, like the sentence this was taken from? It looks like a first name to me (which would likely be read Kazuyuki), and so 「一之って」 sounds like someone who's starting to talk about Kazuyuki. This って is really similar in usage to the topic marking particle は.
That's my best guess :)

そちらに泉一之って

The context is a guy on the phone calling someone. I believe he is asking for Izumi.

That makes sense! The name could very well be Izumi Kazuyuki :)
Does the line end there, by the way? In the context of asking for someone on the phone, it sounds cut-off or incomplete.

Yeah, it is cut of with a ... and I'm not sure how Google would know what her name is if I didn't type it in. Then again, Google is supposed to be kind of spooky psychic sometimes.
