Hi, I'm Keith. Been studying Japanese for around 10 years, but still pretty much at a basic level. In fact, when I first started studying, I wound up meeting my wife, who lived in Japan at the time. She now lives in the US, we've been married almost nine years and have a 7 year old daughter. I got lazy about learning the language, but now my daughter is going to Japanese school on the weekends.
Last week I was hanging around with an acquaintance. I knew he spoke some Japanese, but he wound up having a full conversation with my wife, and I could barely understand what they were talking about. He's shamed me into finally buckling down and learning this!
I've had a premium subscription to JapanesePod101 for a couple years, so I might as well use it. Through another post here, I discovered smart.fm, which is simply amazing. I'm blasting through hiragana, which I already know pretty well. And working through level one of the Japanese Core 2000 series. Very, very good. Just what I needed.
Started in with the Lower Intermediate lessons here, but I think I'm going back to the beginner ones.
