Is it legal ?

Postby xsxsx » August 27th, 2009 4:27 pm

If i saw any of your contents like : PDFs, audios, videos,.......etc. on any sharing services like Scribd.com for books, Youtube for videos, or any similar type of service.

Is is illegal for me to download it or use it ?

Can i accept any person to give me any of those contents while i'm not a member ?

If i had a Trail membership and expired , is it illegal for me to download these contents if i saw them elsewhere?

I can't find Jpod's terms of service (might want to make this more visible, guys) so I can't say if it's legal or illegal (probably the latter, unless they're making it available themselves). However, even if it is somehow legal, that doesn't make it ethical. The guy's at Japanesepod101 put a lot of work into their product and deserve to make a living from it. I doubt anyone, even Peter, is making tons of money on this site. It may be a labor of love, but if everyone starts taking it for free, they'll eventually have to shut down. If you can't afford the pdfs and other bonus material, try to be content with the tons of free podcasts and the free videos they make available on youtube.

Currently Jpod is making things available via Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. They could possibly have something on MySpace, but I don't use it so I can't say for sure.

I believe they also have an account on Flickr for their everyday kanji series.

As for it being legal or illegal, I would think the terms of service from each website would also be a good indicator of what you should do. Youtube doesn't provide for anyone to download videos, yet there are apps that will let you do just that.

As for being ethical, quality software is worth paying for.
