"A" sounds like "Man,"
"I" as in "in'"
"U" as in "soup,"
"E" as in "men."

The 'ー' symbol stretches the preceding vowel sound.
There is no single character for "di," because it needs needs two characters,
De 「デ」 and I 「ィ」. (Please note that the syllable ィ is small in order to sound like "di," or else it will sound like "dei." {refer to the sound chart above})

There is also no sound for "th." It is often written as "su."[/quote]
