Size words for ordering food

Postby gafferfish » August 8th, 2007 9:43 am

Hello minna!

I am going to Japan soon (2 1/2 weeks to go!) and have been cramming for the last couple of weeks with the Survival Phrases, which have been very helpful.

Could someone help with what the words are to use for small, medium/regular and large when ordering food and drinks? For instance, if you are in a fast food resturant and want to order a large drink or a small fries.

I would really appreciate the kanji as well, but once I have the words I should be able to find this myself.

Thank you!

By the way, those correspond to the letters S, M, and L. You just say them like a Japanese person. :)

Also note that the idea of what these sizes mean can vary widely across different places. At some places I know that it's best to order everything in Large, but at others, I wouldn't dare try eating all of what they think that size means.
By the way, I made it to Japan
