Hello Soo-san

宜しくお願いします。yoroshiku onegaishimasu

Started back with 日本語 this year too. I studied Japanese for a year way back in 1977! I've also begun studying some j-pop song lyrics - it's a fun way to learn!

I had an interesting experience yesterday. Went to a Japanese cafe here in Melbourne - my only chance to practice 日本語 - and I said I was 風邪気味です(kazegimi desu - I've got a a bit of a cold?) The staff laughed and said it was kind of an old fashioned expression, young people don't really say that.

Does anyone know if this is true?

- Tony

This site (which I hear uses a database called EDICT) has several expressions used to describe a slight cold, besides 風邪気味, like 軽い風邪, 少し風邪(を引いています). I know it doesn't answer your question haha, but at least you have some alternatives to try!

Tony-san,

you are right. Learning through songs and dramas are much more fun than facing the book....do you have any nice songs to recommend?

A bit late but...
When you add さん to 皆 it's almost always romanized as "minasan". The independent "n" is dropped almost always.
